It primarily holds interest in the Bakken and Three Forks formations in the Williston Basin of the United States. As of December 31, 2012, the company owned working interests in 1,227 gross producing wells comprising 1,222 wells targeting the Bakken and Three Forks formations; and 5 exploratory wells targeting other formations. It also had proved reserves of 67.6 million barrels of oil equivalent. Northern Oil and Gas, Inc. is based in Wayzata, Minnesota.
